The Eternal Shriek, or, The Idiots are Inside the House!

Under the cut for virus-related ranting.

This whole covid situation is like being part of the world’s worst group project, except instead of a failing grade, people die because certain group members can’t follow the fucking rules. And then, when the rules are stupid, like opening shit up, my family, who I thought had a modicum of common sense and community-mindedness, decided to go to a restaurant for breakfast. Oh sure, some tables are blocked off to promote social distancing, but no one wore masks. And just last week my county, which has maybe 60,000 people, reported the highest number of new cases of the virus in the state. But sure, go to Home Goods and buy tacky shit for your house.

Fucking Americans. So stuck on our goddamned Individual Liberties without any COMMON FUCKING SENSE. I swear, as soon as I am able to leave this state, I’m not coming back for like two years at least. Fuck everyone. If my fam wants to see me, they can fucking save up and come see me.

(This whole situation may have shaken loose some deeper resentments.)

I hear you. Americans are great at knowing our rights, and not so great at knowing that rights come with responsibilities. It's a very frustrating and self-defeating aspect of our culture.
