Snowy Sunday Update
Apr. 3rd, 2022 11:02 amYes, SNOW! In April! Is this payment for a relatively mild winter? I mean, we didn't have near the amount of snow this winter that we did last winter, which was great! Now? Not so much. We've got snow in the forecast for the next week. Spring Break is in three weeks, for crying out loud!
Between now and Spring Break, though, we have AP Research presentations and papers due. One of my students will be presenting remotely and the other will be in person. I haven't seen either of their completed paper drafts. Technically they have a month to finish everything and upload it, but presentations will be in a week and a half, and I'm super nervous.
I also don't have a job for the fall and I'm starting to feel really nervous about it. I don't even have any prospects right now.
In BLR-living, some good news. BLR has removed restrictions for foreigners crossing the land border. We were only allowed to cross once every three months unless we had some special reason, but now we can cross with relative ease. Which means I could go somewhere for Spring Break. I'm looking at going to Tallinn and Riga.
Some other good news is that Russian troops have withdrawn entirely from the Kyiv region. There is still fighting going on, but it's good to have the fighting leaving the BLR border. There's speculation that the disputed eastern border will see fighting still for who knows how long. Reading reports of war crimes and such are still terrifying. I don't want to sound overly optimistic because there still is just so much horrific shit going on that will need to be stopped and reckoned with. But it's clear that Ukraine is not the easy pickings Putin thought, which is good.
IDK, that's all. It's so weird to be living so close and to have people I know so harshly affected, while I still have to think about mundane things like jobs and AP classes and grades and life just going on.
Still no snippet although I've been picking away at a new story.
