Home again, home again
Dec. 29th, 2019 12:12 pmTwo more sleeps until I board a flight to Hong Kong and get back to my expat life. Two weeks home was simultaneously too much and not enough, especially because I was sick the whole time. But I got to rest and sleep, which I do not do enough when I’m on a work schedule. I got to see my bestie, watch a ton of Netflix, have unfiltered internet (sob — the “Great Firewall” sucks, you guys). I met my baby niece and played with my nephew. I cross stitched and wrote a little and read a lot. I made dumplings.
I admit, I don’t really want to go back to China, but I do need to leave Idaho. There is a lot here, things I can’t fix or change, people I can’t fix or change, but my heart doesn’t like to admit it, so my head knows that physical distance is the only way I’m able to find even a semblance of balance, so off I shall go, into the wild blue yonder, and then into the chaotic urban yonder.
I wonder if the cute barista has missed me? I very much hope so.
