Papa and Daddy’s Home Cooking by Yuu Toyota

This slice-of-life manga focuses on two single fathers who decide to share a home in order to save money. The chapters focus on the fathers learning to cook, and by extension take care of their children. I can’t remember if this was advertised as eventual BL when I started it, but it doesn’t matter. I’m enjoying the stories, and you know I’m a sucker for food-as-love language (at least in mangas). The recipes included in each volume are some that I could manage if I wanted, which is a nice bonus. According to Wikipedia, there are thirteen volumes in this story, and I’ve only read the first four, so I look forward to following this story.

Catch These Hands! Volume 4 by Murata

I started this series last year, and so I had to go back and read Volume 3 before finishing up the series. This four-volume series is about two former juvenile delinquents who were rivals in high school. When they meet up again as young adults, Ayako Takebe is trying to shed her former image but is struggling to find her place in the world. Kirara Soramori reveals her longtime crush on Takebe, and after a fight, they start dating. I found this manga to be a little silly but also very sweet. The characters are in their early twenties and are really just lost in life. They also have really poor communication skills, which leads to misunderstandings. However, they try to work on it. Takebe reads as either ace or demi to me. She admits that she doesn’t match Soramori’s level of interest, but she’d like to try, which leads me to the demi side of things. Neither of them label themselves beyond some level of sapphic (given their relationship), but it’s unsurprising given how poor their overall communication skills are. However, I love that they actually work on it. By the end of the series, they come to an agreement that they want to try to have a real relationship and try to increase their intimacy.
