On the Plus Side
Sep. 11th, 2023 11:11 amI'm planning to attend a job fair in Hong Kong next year. I feel like I have a better handle on how to search for jobs, what I want, what questions to ask, etc. I have stumbled into most of my jobs, or had only one offer after searching so I had no real choice, so I'm nervous. But I have a few clear life goals in mind.
I suspect I will end up back in China because the type of school I want to work in wants people with specific experience, and while some say they will train the right person, there are enough English teachers out there with experience already that I don't stand out among applications. I also have an ally in Mayi. She has a gazillion contacts, and I have grudgingly come to accept that who you know is as important, if not more, than what your resume says about you, so I am going to leverage her connections and get that gold! I hope!
